Agroecology is the study of ecological processes applied to agricultural production systems. In Agroecology and Urban Farming Practicum, students will get an overview of real agroecological techniques used by farmers. Students will learn about ways to grow food-using methods that not only don’t deplete the land, but also add to the health of the land and surrounding ecosystem. Using the learned techniques and with additional prior knowledge from the Urban Farming and Food Systems course, students will design and create their own urban farm right outside of the classroom when the weather warms in the spring. This course can be taken independently or as a successor to the Urban Farming and Food Systems course.
